Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of different doses of humic acid and different growing media on the development of daughter saffron corms. The experiment was established and conducted during October 2018 - June 2019 at the Research and Application Greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Uşak University. The experiment was established using completelly randomized design in split plots with 3 replications. Growing medium constituted the main plots and the humic acid applications were placed in sub-plots. The daughter saffron corms were planted in four different growing media: peat, sand, slag and soil in plastic crates. Four different doses of humic acid 0 (control), 0.65, 1.30, 2.60 g/m^2 were applied to the growing saffron. Saffron corm germination percentage, total number of saffron per plot, number of leaves per plot, leaf length (cm), number of corms per plot, corm weight (g/plot) and single corm weight (g/corm) parameteres were investigated in the study. According to the results; The number of corm ranged 19.67–25.33 and maximum number of corm was obtained from peat media and humic acid application of 2.60 g/m². Corm weight changed between 17.91-47.27 g and maximum corm weight gain was obtained from peat and 0.65 g/m^2 humic acid application. The effects of different doses of humic acid and growing media on the development of saffron cormlets were found significantly different.
