Abstract
This research was conducted at the experimental area of the Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture, Cukurova University as a main crop in 2018. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of planting date on important agronomic and quality (oil and protein content) characteristics of peanut variety in main crop growing condition in Mediterranean Region (Turkey). The experiment design was a randomized complete block with three replications. NC-7 peanut variety was used as plant material in this research. The planting dates were arranged beginning of end of March such as 28 March, 8 April, 18 April, 28 April, 8 May, 18 May and 28 May by 10 days interval. Pod number and pod weight per plant, 100 seed weight, shelling percentage, pod yield per hectare, oil and protein content and fatty acids composition characteristics were investigated. The pod yield was varied according to planting times. The highest pod yield was obtained from 8th of May planting date (6734 kg/ha). The oil percentage was decreased when the planting dates delayed, but protein percentage was increased.
