Abstract
The evaporator (cooling coil or blower coil), one of the four main elements in the refrigeration cycle, was used as a finned tube heat exchanger in this study. There are difficulties in determining the parameters for sizing evaporators. It was calculated by writing a computer program due to difficulties in determining the parameters for sizing the evaporators. A program was written that has high working platform independence and makes calculations with the C# programming language of the Microsoft Visual Studio.NET platform with its structure suitable for precise roundoff error ratio mathematical operations. In the program, the thermal values of the evaporator and, accordingly, the parameters of its physical design can be calculated. With the possibilities of the thesis study, using the mathematical equations of the program, the total cooling load of the evaporator was calculated as 2.0379 kJ, the pipe surface area was 2.1070 m2, the number of pipes was 19, the number of fins was 90, and when the temperature results of the manufactured evaporator were measured and compared, it was determined that the results of the program were over 92% correct. Mathematical and experimental results can be easily added thanks to the flexible programming structure in order to obtain more efficient results in future versions of this thesis study prepared as a starter program.
