Abstract
In this study, the relationship and the possible impact between employees perceptions of overqualification and compulsory citizenship behaviors which is one of the negative extra-role workplace behaviors are examined within the scope of Person-Job Fit Theory. In this context, the sample of this study consists of 334 non-manager service sector employees in Istanbul, which were reached in December 2017 and January 2018 by using convenient sampling method. The survey technique was used as a data collection tool and the questionnaire was applied to the same people in two different time periods. The obtained data were analyzed in SPSS software. Findings show that the job misprision dimension of the perceived overqualification has a positive effect on compulsory citizenship behaviors, while the self-righteousness dimension of the perceived overqualification has no statistically significant effect on compulsory citizenship behaviors. At the end of the research, managerial and practical implications are provided.
