There was a struggle between European countries to be superior for high seas during 16th century. Within the struggle for superiority, Spain is foremost. In 1588, within the frame of this struggle, England defeated Spain by the leadership of Ark Royal war ship and gained dominance over high seas. In 1636, Ark Royal sank in Medway River of England. In 1914, 278 years after the sinking, Ark Royal was enabled to return to the stage of history by naming the first airplane carrier known in the world history after Ark Royal. With the return of Ark Royal, as of February, its first field of assignment was Dardanelles. As of May, Ark Royal began to withdraw from Dardanelles. Ark Royal Airplane Carrier whose field of assignment was not limited to Dardanelles, served for England until 1923. After this date, England tried to carry on the name Ark Royal by naming the top of the line model airplane carriers after this name.
