Abstract
Gifted students who are different than the other students with many characteristics such as above average talent, motivation and creativity generally show their abilities in the fields of intellectual, music, and visual arts. In addition to having visual abilities, the students in the field of visual arts also have common characteristics with students of intellectual ability. In this study, the paintings of visual arts students and intellectual ability students attending the Science and Art Center which meets the educational needs of gifted students were compared. In this study, a painting study was carried out with fourth-grade elementary school students depending on an existing real image and an imaginative image, and then paintings were evaluated. Paintings of visual arts students and intellectual ability students were compared in respect of art principles and elements and of imagination. At the end of the study it was found that the students of visual arts were good at realistic and tangible paintings and the students of intellectual ability category were good at imaginative paintings that depend on intangible thinking and dreaming.
