IMPLEMENTATION OF THE STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS

This research aims to determine opinions of primary school managers and provincial educational supervisors on implementation level of strategic management in primary education institutions. The research carried out according to descriptive survey model; target population consists of 230 provincial educational supervisors working in Istanbul, 208 school managers and deputy managers. “Scale of measurement of implementation level of strategic management in schools” which was developed by Researcher was used as data collection tool. Descriptive statistical methods, T-Test, Mann-Whitney U Test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Scheffe Test were used for data analysis. According to research results: Implementation level of strategic management in primary schools is high in dimensions of “strategic thinking”, “strategic analysis, guidance and forming a strategy” and very high in dimension of “strategic implementation and evaluation” according to managers; high in all three dimensions according to deputy managers; low in dimension of “strategic thinking”, medium in “strategic analysis, guidance and forming a strategy” and “strategic implementation and evaluation” dimensions according to provincial educational supervisors; high in all three dimensions according to common view of all participants and there are significant differences between opinions of participants with regard to variables of age, education level and seniority.
