  • Abstract
    In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between the attachment styles of the mothers of 5-6-year-old children who continue school, the personality traits of mothers and the children’s styles of attachment to their mothers. The sample of the study, which was designed in accordance with the relational screening model, consisted of 160 mothers and their children (84 girls, 76 boys, 74 5-year-olds, 86 6-year-olds) who agreed to participate in the research from the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. Several instruments were used in the study including the “Personal Information Form” for demographic information, “16 Personality Factors” (16 PF) to measure the personality traits of the mothers, “Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory” (ECR) to measure the attachment styles of the mothers, and “Doll Family Story Completion Test- TR” (DFSCT-TR) to measure the attachment styles of the children. As a result of the research, a significant relationship between the attachment styles and personality traits of the mothers was found only in the anxiety sub-dimension. Despite that, there was a significant relationship between extroversion-introversion, anxious-comfortable, reality-comfortable, accepting-independent and free-controlled personality traits of mothers and attachment styles of children. There was no significant relationship between the attachment styles of the mothers and the attachment styles of the children.
