Abstract
In this research, it is aimed to make a comparative analysis of theses related to the concept of graphic design by taking into consideration the databases of the Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK) thesis center and Open Access Theses and Dissertations (OATD) databases. For this purpose, the theses obtained from the related databases were examined in terms of country, language, year and grade level variables. As the result of the study, it is observed that the theses done both in Turkey and in other countries have increased in the same time and in the same direction in general over the years; that they have showed an increase more than twice especially after 2002; the maximum number of theses is after 2012; the theses are mostly in the master level. In line with these results, it is suggested that The YÖK Thesis Center database includes an additional field for international studies, that it may be allowed to install a bilingual thesis into the database, and that integrated graphic design postgraduate programs can be opened.
