Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to reveal the educational problems of immigrant children in our country and to offer solutions. A total of 83 participants, including 12 administrators and 71 teachers, were included in the research conducted in the 2016-2017 academic year with the qualitative research method and case study design. In this study, the current status of the immigrant students in schools and classrooms (distribution by class, distribution by source countries, receiving psychological support, getting additional support for success, relationships support with other students), problems experienced by teachers and administrators, and solutions were investigated. In the study, the administrators and teachers were asked about the educational problems of the immigrant students in their class and schools. According to the findings of the study, 92% of the immigrant students in the classes of the administrators and teachers are Syrian, and 8% of them are Afghani and Iraqi students. 83% of these students are studying with other students, 12% are in other classes. 72% of the participants evaluated the relationships of migrant children with their friends as negative. 94% of the managers and teachers recommended that language support is given to parents and children as a solution to the educational problems of immigrant children, 86% of them provided appropriate classroom equipment and 69% of them provided in-service training for teachers. Migration and education should be handled not only with the migrants but also with the view of the people of the migrated countries.
