Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to examine life satisfaction in terms of demographic variables, perceived parental attitudes and personality traits in adolescents. The research was conducted in a relational screening model. Purposive sampling technique was used in the study. 323 high school students participated in the research. 59.8% of the participants (F=193) were female and 40.2% (F=130) were male; their ages ranged from 14 to 19 years and mean age was 15.54 (SD=.94). Participants completed the Personal Information Form, Life Satisfaction Scale, Parent Attitude Scale and Adjective Based Personality Scale. The obtained results show that there are various relationships between life satisfaction and age, psychological autonomy and acceptance-interest dimensions of parental attitudes, neuroticism, extroversion, agreeableness and conscientiousness dimensions of personality in adolescents. Life satisfaction scores differ according to both parents democratic levels and parenting styles. Extroversion dimension of personality traits and acceptance-involvement dimension of parental attitudes are significant predictors of life satisfaction levels of adolescents.
