  • Abstract
    This study was conducted to determine the level of awareness of intangible cultural heritage of 4th grade students in a public school in Safranbolu. In addition, a research examining the views of the 4th year students of Safranbolu, which was included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO in the literature in the field of cultural heritage preservation, was examined. Case study, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. Case studies, which are a qualitative research model, are a distinctive approach used to seek answers to scientific questions in order to “ evaluate an event ”. In order to collect qualitative data, a semi-structured interview form which was developed by the researcher by taking expert opinion and containing nine questions was used. In this context, a total of 11 participants selected from a public school in Safranbolu district of Karabük were interviewed for the purpose of the study. The descriptive analysis method was used in the analysis of the data obtained from the study and summarized and interpreted according to the previously determined themes. As a result of the findings of the study, it was found that the awareness level of the students about the intangible cultural heritage was limited and that almost all of the students were not aware of the intangible cultural heritage except traditional children s games. According to the obtained results, examples can be presented to educators by making applied studies about intangible cultural heritage teaching.
