  • Abstract
    The aim of this study is to carried out within the scope Education of Treescience In Out-Of-School Environment” project for 9th grade high school students of the environmental awareness of the tree education, tree identification levels and attitudes to determine the effects. The study group consists of 50 high school students who participated in the project carried out between 08-11 June 2015. The sample of the study was determined by criterion sampling from the purposeful sampling methods. In this research data was collected through the “tree and environmental attitude” scale which was developed in accordance with the opinions of field experts for the project application area, Ütopya Given Tree Diagnostic (ÜGTD) Test and a semi-structured interview form consisting of nine open-ended questions related to tree diagnosis test. The research is designed in accordance with the static group pretest-posttest design. In the analysis of the data obtained from the research, a simultaneous (diversification, unified) pattern was used from the mixed method research patterns. In this context, quantitative findings obtained from the research were evaluated in depth with qualitative findings. Quantitative data obtained from the study were analyzed with SPSS 23 Package program and qualitative data were analyzed with MAXQDA 2018 Package program. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, it has been determined that the tree education project has a significant positive impact on the environmental awareness and tree identification levels of high school students.
