Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of factors that affect the participation to free time physical activities of the university students in terms of some variables. The sample of this study was composed of 627 undergraduate students at the Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University. Research data were obtained through participation on the internet. Data were collected with “Middle East Technical University students, academic and administrative staff in their free time scale” developed by Özbey (1994). Results of this study showed that the university students had statistically significant differences in their participation in SZFE in terms of their age, income level, faculty, class, time of participation, type of participation and kind of participation. Recreation and SZFE philosophy should be perceived by university administrations as a part of academic education and university students should be made aware of SZFE.
