    COMPARISON OF TEACHERS AND STUDENTS VIEWS ON THE INTONATION PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED IN THE CELLO EDUCATION PROCESS WITH STUDENT PERFORMANCE

  • Abstract
    This study has the objective to compare the views of teachers as well as students about the solution of intonation problems encountered in the process of cello education with students’ performance. Also, the study aims to draw conclusions based on opinions and empirical data regarding the causes of intonation problems encountered in cello education, to emphasize the importance of the subject and to make the necessary suggestions to minimize the problems of intonation. The participants of the study consists of three cello teachers working in Bolu Fine Arts High School in the 2018-2019 academic year and seventeen cello students in the first, second, third and fourth grades of the same school. The research study is a descriptive study. In this study, a “Teacher Questionnaire”, “Student Questionnaire” and “Performance Observation Form” prepared by the researcher in accordance with the expert opinions, the purpose and the importance of the research study were used. Based on the findings obtained in the study, data for the sub-problems of the study were obtained by using statistical methods through SPSS software. According to the results obtained from the research, it was revealed that there is a positive compatibility between the views of the cello teachers towards the solution of the intonation problem and students performance. In terms of the comparison of students views on the solution of intonation problems and their performances, difference in some of the results was found while no difference was found in the other results.
