Abstract
The anisotropy field of permanent magnets base on the formula Sm2 (Co0.725 Fe0.2 Cu0.055 Zr0.02 )17 was measured in pulsed fields in the temperature range of 150K to 300K. The temperature dependence of the anisotropy field is influenced by the aging temperature. A comparison of the magnetic data as obtained in a pulsed field with that measured in a static field showed the reliability of the pulsed field technique. The calibration problems, however, are not yet satisfactorily solved. The thermal expansion of a SmCo5 magnet is characteristically different from that of a 2/17-based magnet. Therefore thermal expansion measurements between 4.2K and 300K are used to distinguish the 1/5 phase from the 2/17 phase.
