Abstract
In the paper a magnetic frequency quintupler of transformer type is considered. Starting from the symmetry conditions, a single-core equivalent circuit is proposed and serves as an aid in carrying a steady-state analysis. The mathematical model applied permits determination of core flux density and also all quintupler quantities under various load conditions as well as prediction of ferroresonant phenomena. Galerkin´s procedure is employed under the assumption of four flux density harmonics in the core in order to obtain nonlinear algebraic equations which are solved by direct application of the Newton-Raphson method. Results of analysis are presented and on being related to the physical characteristics of the quintupler prove to have very good accuracy.
