Abstract
Selective gas sensing of CH4 and CO2 using a single tunable 1.64 mu m DFB laser diode is demonstrated for the first time. By precise wavelength tuning of the diode to non-coincident absorptions of the two gases in their overlapping spectral region, one can detect both using absorption spectroscopy.
