Abstract
Magnetic circular dichroïsm of Erbium Iron Garnet single crystal plates has been measured in the 14-300 K temperature range under magnetic field applied along [100] and [111] cristallographic axes, in the infra-red range of wavelengths (1.45-1.60μm). The magnetic field and thermal dependences of some of the4I13/2 first excited multiplet are obtained, as well as the positions and anisotropies of some levels of the ground multiplet4I15/2 . The Fe- Er exchange effect is analyzed. The Er sites inequivalence has no measurable effect on the spectra.
