Abstract
High-rate fabrication techniques for wholly synthesised graded-index fibre preforms were developed. An overall deposition rate of 5.6 g/min was attained using a multiflame VAD burner and using SiHCl3. A low loss of 0.25 dB/km at 1.59 ¿m and a small eccentricity of less than 0.4% were obtained.
