Abstract
Thermal strains and eddy currents impose a fundamental limit to the minimum detectable field capability of metallic glass based fibre-optic DC magnetometers. A room-temperature magnetometer operating with a resonance Q of 100 exhibits a theoretical minimum detectable field of ~3Ã10¿11 Oe in the DC to 1 Hz bandwidth.
