Abstract
Co1-x Mgx films have been prepared by Co-evaporation in UHV and were found amorphous for 10 < x < 60. The magnetization decreases almost linearly with Mg addition and the rate of decrease is much smaller than that found in Co-Zr but comparable to that in Co-Au systems. The coercivity is less than 2 Oe for amorphous films and one gets rectangular in plane loops. From spin wave resonance spectrum the spin wave constant D for Co84 Mg16 is calculated to be 430 mev A2. The results are discussed.
