Abstract
The use of 3-D eddy current codes to calculate NDT (nondestructive testing) problems is described. The investigations have been carried out on problem eight of the TEAM Workshops. To avoid thin finite-element (FE) sheets in a FE structure so that a well-conditioned equation system is obtained, the possibility of modeling a crack with the aid of boundary conditions is discussed. The field quantities in the vicinity of the crack are compared for the fully modeled crack and for the crack represented by boundary conditions
