Abstract
Thin film disk media makes high density recording possible. The most important problem to solve in the use of thin film disk media is the development of a surface lubricant which realizes high anti-wear performance without head/disk stiction. The authors recently developed a new composite lubricant, consisting of fine solid particles of melamine cyanurate(MCA) and conventional fluorinated oil. The new composite lubricant exhibits synergistic characteristics of both liquid and solid lubricant. Thus, high anti-wear performance is obtained without head/disk stiction, compared with conventional fluorinated oil.
