Abstract
The authors describe a protocol development tool for home bus systems based on the work carried out in the European Eureka IHS (Integrated Home System) project. The tool comprises a general-purpose IHS gate array and C language software to drive tests and analyze networks based on twisted pair and coaxial cable. The PC implementation allows the engineers to manipulate this network with great simplicity. The authors discuss the IHS protocol details, the gate array used for the low-level implementation, and the PC implementation
