  • Abstract
    A recent experience with rapid prototyping at Sandia National Laboratories, using stereolithography and selective laser sintering equipment, as part of a technology transfer program to produce a bicycle crank arm for a local bike shop is described. A process for creating a wax model in only five days, versus several months by traditional methods, is sketched. An experience at Sundstrand Aerospace´s Electric Power Systems Division with rapid prototyping of part of an aircraft´s variable-speed, constant-frequency electric system is also cited.<>
