  • Abstract
    A `complex short circuit MVA method´ is proposed as an alternative to the standard per unit method for power system studies. It removes the need for base quantities, and adopts the representation of power system elements in terms of MVA instead of the conventional per unit quantities. The proposed approach is simpler and less susceptible to unintentional errors than existing methods. It has potential value in training and industry. The basic methodology and applications to short-circuit calculations are presented
