Abstract
Magnetooptic wall resonance spectroscopy (WRS) with very high spatial resolution is used to detect vertical Bloch lines (VBLs) in a single memory cell (4 mu m wall length) of the vertical Bloch line memory (VBLM) proposed by S. Konishi (1983). With this it is possible to study VBL propagation and stabilization in detail. Stripe domains are stabilized by 10% grooving. The groove is about 4 mu m wide, confining a stripe of 2- mu m width. Calculations of the local wall mass are presented for the case that the VBL is additionally stabilized in an in-plane field potential as used in VBLM.
