Abstract
Fire safety was an important consideration in first choosing the askarels for use as dielectric liquids, and flammability remains an important issue in selecting replacements for the PCBs. Features of available bench tests are reviewed. The needs for insulation system tests, for determination of required nonflammability levels, and for standardization of flammability tests are pointed out.
