Abstract
A theoretical model is presented for the evaluation of the error probability of IM-DD ultralong links adopting low dispersion fibres, taking into consideration the case of a fluctuating chromatic dispersion. The maximum bit rate at which transmission is possible is evaluated as a function of the link length
