  • Abstract
    The gain and noise properties of erbium doped fibre amplifiers with automatic control by lasing are studied. The effects of the lasing wavelength and laser cavity loss on the operating performance of the EDFAs are investigated. Suggestions for improving the amplifier performance are also made
