The first article in this issue is ???The Importance of Experience Sharing as Part of Smart Conditioning Monitoring???A Case Study??? by Charles Su and Wai Woo, University of Newcastle, UK. Transmission cable failures due to a design problem occurred in three separate utilities over a period of two decades. These failures are described in detail. They could have been avoided by timely sharing of the findings of investigation. During the last three decades, condition monitoring has been widely adopted in utilities in order to improve the reliability of electrical power systems.
