Abstract
The advantages of having a motor specifically designed for adjustable-frequency drive systems are listed. Some of the design parameters that can be changed to make motors more compatible with the nonsinusoidal current and voltage waves generated by these drive systems are detailed. It is suggested that users and the motor industry combine to encourage these improvements
