Abstract
The author states that we should know more about what lies underground, say geologists, before the UK government urges operators to submit fracking plans. Hydraulic fracturing - or fracking - is a technique used to extract methane from shale rock and has attracted attention over concerns that it could trigger earthquakes or contaminate drinking water.
