Abstract
A new method in nonrecursive digial filter design with nonequidistant taps is presented with characteristic examples. The method consists of increasing the number of taps progressively and optimizing their positions at every addition of a new tap. The efficiency of the method manifests itself in the drastic reduction of the number of taps and in the reduction dynamic range of tap weights, as compared to the equally spaced case for the same filter performance.
