Motivating maintenance craftsmen

Chief executives often say that maintenance is better managed preferably through outsourcing. This article examines some of the reasons why we think of craftsmen in the way we do, why rewards and recognition are often misread, and what impact outsourcing has on the views of the craftsmen that do the work.
