Abstract
The method of inverse scattering is used to calculate N-soliton solutions of the nonlinear Schroedinger equation. The solution of the inverse problem is proposed as a simple matrix equation. The exact 3-soliton solution is calculated and a simple equation for the calculation of the power proposed
