Abstract
A new approach to model the current-source-inverter-fed induction motor drive is presented. The mathematical model takes into account the rectifier, inverter, and induction motor dynamics and is established in the stationary reference frame. For controlling the drive speed, a modified indirect field-oriented control is proposed. To counter the effects of torque pulsations at very low speeds and rotor resistance variation, a slip compensation loop is included in the control law formulation. A microprocessor-based prototype system is also implemented, providing full digital control of the drive speed. Both computer simulation and experimental results are presented
