Abstract
A step-by-step method is used to analyse the performance of a linear induction motor. The problem is formulated in circuit terms to include end effects and it is shown that both steady state and transient performance can be studied. The results of the analysis agree well with the measured dynamic performance of a small motor and the non-sinusoidal nature of the secondary current is clearly seen.
