Abstract
A method is proposed for economic dispatching of power systems based on successive application of the minimum cost flow algorithm. Through successive application of the minimum cost flow algorithm, the method is capable of handling the usual quadratic functions associated with generator input-output characteristics as well as the quadratic cost of transmission function embodied in the method. The method maintains the topology of the power system, and provides as output the transmission line flows along with the usual generation schedules. This new method is faster than the Minty-Lee Dispatching Method used previously by the authors.
