Abstract
This paper describes the turbine control and some aspects of the generator excitation control for turbine-generator units built by the company with whom the authors are employed. An understanding of the actions of these control functions during power system disturbances is essential to reliable system operation. The need for more recorded data on actual frequency excursions and the rates at which they occur is emphasized.
