Progress Report on a Guide for Loading Oil-Immersed Power Transformers Rated in Excess of 100 MVA

The development of a loading guide for large power transformers was considered by the IEEE Transformers Committee on the basis of special problems inherent in large transformers. This paper addresses some of these special problems, such as risk, types of loading, temperature limitations, and user specification, and it discusses the reasons behind features found in the proposed guide. The basis for many of the changes that have been developed here are related to the results of recent research projects and the extensive computer facilities now available to users.
