  • Abstract
This paper deals with the use of an automatic tuned capacitor bank connected to a transformer, where the number of capacitors used is automatically adjusted based on the actual load. Capacitor switching is a function of the power factor controller which detects the base frequency and changes the operation automatically to 50 or 60 Hz. The capacitor bank sizing is a function of the practical air circuit breaker rating that is economical to serve the capacitor bank. To be cost effective, manufactures tend to use their standard components to assemble a tuned capacitor bank
