Abstract
The Chicago-based aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, is once again at the forefront of the industry after experiencing some dark days in the 1990s when competition with its chief rival, Airbus, caused major manufacturing problems, escalating lead times and a loss of confidence in the business. Much of the company´s success has been attributed to its flexible pricing policy, which comes from the renewed focus on lean manufacturing that has lowered costs.
