  • Abstract
    There is no standard specification for type test on dc cables except one recommended by CIGRE SC-21 for oil impregnated paper insulated cables up to 600kV. In Japan 250kV class XLPE dc cables were manufactured and subjected to a long term test program including the type test mentioned above. As a result it seems that this type test is not suitable for XLPE cables. This paper presents a new consideration in voltage withstand test for XLPE dc cable based on dc insulation characteristics of XLPE.
