Abstract
Advanced turbine-generator controls contribute to the utility industry´s goal of producing reliable electric power at low cost. This paper describes how the microprocessor-based controllers and monitors aid turbine-generator ¿Operational flexibility, load cycling, two shift position ¿Network stability, fast recovery from load rejection ¿Operator guidance or relief from critical duties Specifically, microprocessor-based controllers calculate critical thermal quantities in the turbine, make and implement decisions, and control turbine startup, loading, and unloading through the positioning of main steam valves.
