Abstract
PEPCO´s new EMS provides unique security and optimization strategies for generation, transmission, and distribution systems via a coordinated suite of real-time closed-loop control functions. The authors discuss the security functions real-time sequence, control hierarchy, optimisation control objectives, contingency-condition optimisation, emergency mode operation, underground transmission network control objectives, radial load bus voltage control objectives, control sequencing, and control execution.<>
