Abstract
This paper investigates the design and application of an array shedding voltage regulator for use in photovoltaic systems with two separate loads of different priority. The Multi-Stage Dual Priority Regulator (MSDPR) charges two separate battery systems for high and low priority loads. This controller switches the array modules from the main battery to the auxiliary battery as the main battery nears full charge, thus utilizing the PV panels to the maximum without jeopardizing the reliability of the critical load.
