Abstract
When evaluating one-way versus two-way communication systems to perform the function of residential air conditioner load control as well as other load management functions, the costs associated with reliability should be considered and can be significant. A methodology is presented in this paper which can be used to evaluate the total equipment and reliabillty costs for both a one-way and two-way communication system.
