Abstract
If a system is excited by a zero-phase sinc pulse, the peak amplitude of its response is equal to the maximum of the correlation between the system´s input and the corresponding output signal. The maximum of the correlation function is, in fact, a measure of waveform distortion. Therefore, maximisation of the response peak amplitude leads to systems with minimum distortion. Based on this idea, a method for the design of all-pass equalisers is developed.
